Hilary Swank learns from disappointment

4th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hilary Swank has experienced disappointments which have made her cry, but always tries to learn from them.

The talented actress has had a hugely successful and varied career, and is best known for her Oscar-winning performances as a transgender man in Boys Don't Cry and a boxer in Million Dollar Baby.

Despite being lauded by the industry, Hilary has had her fair share of disappointments. Her character was written out of Beverly Hills, 90210 after 16 episodes in the 90s, and she insists she hasnt always secured movie roles shes been desperate for.

Although it does get to her, Hilary deals with rejection by trying to ensure she doesnt make the same mistakes again. You hear people say, Oh, I didnt get that bonus, or, I got fired. And look, Ive experienced not getting the bonus and Ive gotten fired, she insisted. I feel it and I say, That sucks. I get depressed. I cry. I have my feelings. I dont gloss over them. But then, after that, I pick myself up, brush myself off and say, Why did this happen? What am I supposed to learn?

The 36-year-old thinks she has enjoyed such a prestigious career because fighting for success is in her marrow. She tries to turn everything that happens to her into a positive, and does everything in her power to get the parts she wants.

If youre going to do this then you have to go after it. Nothing is given to you, she told British magazine InStyle. And you dont even think about it like that. You dont even recognise it until later, when somebody points it out. (C) Cover Media
