(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hugh Jackman put on weight for his role as Wolverine to avoid looking like Clint Eastwood.
The Hollywood actor is set to reprise his role as the superhero for the fourth time in new film The Wolverine. The 42-year-old is renowned for packing on weight for the role, munching around 6,000 calories a day to ensure he has rippling biceps. Hugh admits the films director Darren Aronofsky was particularly keen for him to bulk up this time round as he was looking so slim before shooting.
"Darren said with the last one, 'Hey, you looked great, but you're so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that's not Wolverine. He said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky, you know, he's short and thick. So he said, 'I want you to go there, get bigger, he revealed to the Los Angeles Times.
The advice has prompted Hugh to proceed on a high fat diet in order to achieve the desired look. He confirms its something he is happy to do, even if his health suffers as a result.
"That's what I'm going for, and if I have a massive heart attack first, well, you tell everyone what I was going for," he joked. (C) Cover Media
