Currently, actress Huma Qureshi is in Bangalore to chat about her upcoming release 'Ek Thi Daayan'. Having no Godfather in the film industry, Huma still proved her mettle after her debut film 'Gangs of Wasseypur'.
When asked about her journey in Bollywood so far, Huma said, "It's a dream come true. I have got to work with good directors who have seen merit in me. I try not to over-analyze the response I have got. I have nothing to lose in the industry and I am enjoying the ride."
Huma also adds that it is the advantage of having a good film that gets you noticed. "Though, the advantage of having a credible release is that it is a lot easier to meet people now than it used to be. So that's a good thing," says Huma.
However, like every one else, Huma too became a victim in the link-up stories with her director. Reports of her link-up with her mentor, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, did set her back initially.
"Anurag is my mentor and a friend, he was the one who gave me my first break. To read such reports was like a slap across my face. It looks like I got my break because of my friendship with him and not because of my talent. But I have learnt to deal with it and even laugh it off. I have known both Anurag and his wife Kalki Koechlin for a long time, and we don't let such things ruin our relationship," she explains.
