16th June 2012

Just recently the family of late Indian Prince of Pataudi and former Indian captain Mansur Ali Khan was invited at the Marylebone Cricket Club for a special dinner party that was hosted in the honor of the legendary cricketer.

The event was attended by the entire family - Sharmila Tagore, Saif Ali Khan, Soha and Saba. Saif's lady love Kareena Kapoor, who already is a part of the family was present too.

It was a special evening for the whole clan as it was named after the life of late Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi by the Marylebone Cricket Club, which is the home of the prestigious Lord's Cricket Ground.

Saif, who resumed the shooting soon after the dinner exclaimed that his family was privileged with the honor. "The relationship between the MCC and the Nawabs of Pataudi goes back to the time when my grandfather had worn the MCC colours on England's tour of Australia in 1932-33. It was a huge honor for us to be present at the tribute dinner at the Long Room. It's considered to be the most revered room in the cricket world, and my mother headed the Pataudi table," said Saif sharing the experience of the dinner.

He added on how special the honor was for them, "I made an acceptance speech on my family's behalf. It was extremely emotional. This kind of honor has not been bestowed on any Indian cricketer at Lord's. My father was the kind of man who kept to himself. He didn't go out of his way to force his views on people. This kind of recognition was bestowed upon him without him having to lobby for it. He lived his life with dignity and grace," added a proud son.
