Born in Los Angeles County, Sean Penn has a film background with his father being the actor and director Leo Penn and his mother, actress Eileen Ryan. Although he started his acting career in 1974, through the television series the 'Little House on the Prairie', as an extra, his actual career began with his movie 'Taps' in 1981. His film journey took a grand leap from here and from then on there was no stopping. Penn who has been nominated five times for the Academy Awards, has won it twice. His latest movie 'The Tree Of Life' won the Palme D'Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
