Yesterday marked the birthday of the man who made 1983 world cup win possible, the iconic all-rounder of the Indian Cricket team and the captain of India's first ever World Cup victory, Mr. Kapil Dev whose birthday falls on the 6th of January. Ranveer Singh who is all set to play his role on screen had the warmest of wishes as he shared a vintage picture of the world cup winner holding the prestigious trophy as he wrote "Happy Birthday, Legend! #KapilDev @83thefilm @kabirkhankk"

We too wish the ace cricketer a belated birthday and mention our heartfelt gratitude of making India achieve its first ever world cup win. 

Ranveer who has gathered all the acclaim for his acting prowess for his role as Khilji in 'Padmaavat' has recently given a box-office hit 'Simmba' as well. He has an interesting line up of films including Zoya Akhtar's 'Gully Boy' and Kapil Dev's biopic which will be directed by Kabir Khan. The movie is titled '83 and Ranveer will be essaying the role of the captain himself.

Speaking on stepping in the shoes of Kapil Dev, Ranveer had said, "Bas woh bowling action aa jaaye (I wish I get his bowling action correct). I hope Kapil sir himself gives me some training and tips. It goes without saying that the physical transformation is going to be an important part."
