September 6, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): For Jacqueline Fernandez's siblings, Christmas is never too far away. The pretty actress loves to splurge and each instance of her homecoming is a mini celebration of sorts as Jackie showers her two brothers and a sister with gifts and goodies. No wonder, she enjoys the tagline of Santa in her family.
"Even though my brothers are elder to me, I love to buy gifts for them every now and then", says the ex-Miss Sri Lanka who is slowly inching her way up in Bollywood, "Whether it is Christmas or otherwise, it is a rule that I get something special for them in each of my visits."
Add to that the fact that Jackie's earlier days in modeling followed by her stint in the glamour world have always kept her on the move; her homecoming is always a special event.
"I started working very young due to which we all miss each other very badly", sighs Jackie who was born in Sri Lanka, did most of her schooling in Bahrain, travelled around the globe before making India as her base, "There is a special bond that I share with my sister and she is quite open when it comes to making demands. I love to buy various outfits for her."
This isn't something new for Jackie though. Even during her days as a teenager, she was earning her own money through the events that she either performed in or hosted across the country. "And guess what I did with this money? I used to buy Valentine gifts for the girlfriends of my brothers. Can you beat that", questions Jackie who is born to a Sinhalese Buddhist Malaysian mother and a Sinhalese Sri Lankan Roman Catholic father.
Getting emotional, she adds, "I miss them all. As a family we have always shared our stuff with each other. I have been away from home for so many years now and all of us siblings crave to see each other more often. I may pick things for them now and then but I know that they too always have something special for me during each of my visits.
Well, with such tales of 'We Are Family', is a certain Karan Johar happy with all the promotion Jackie could well be doing for his cause?
