The buzz in Kollywood was that Vijay and Jai would share the screen space in "Thuppakki", with the latter playing the younger brother of the former. However, director of the film A R Murugadoss has denied it.

Clearing the air on his microblogging page, Murugadoss, who is popular for films like Ramana, Ghajini and 7aum Arivu, said, 'Jai is not acting in "Thuppakki". There is no brother role in the film.'

It is to be noted that Jai, who hails from the family of ace music composer Deva, started his acting career by playing Vijay's younger brother in Bhagavathi. He later became popular with films such as Chennai 28 and Goa.

Meanwhile, Thuppakki is fast taking shape in and around Mumbai. Kajal Agarwal is the movie's heroine, music by Harris Jayaraj and the producer is Kalaipuli S Thanu.
