(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jamie Foxx admits that he had some "twisted" hairstyles in his youth.
The Academy Award-winning actor did not always have good hair days. As a teenager, people would always misconceive the true nature of Jamie's hairdo.
"When I was 17, I had the major curl, not the Jheri curl," Jamie told MTV for their TV show When I Was 17.
"A lot of people get it twisted and confused, and they say 'Jheri curl.' "
Jamie put a lot of effort into his major curl. Although the Jheri curl hairdo was popular in America in the 1980s, Jamie believes that the major curl was a far superior style.
"I had the little curls in the front and the big ones in the back," Jamie recalled.
"I would link the major curl to women or pimps, for the most part."
Jamie grew up in a small town in Texas.
Although his hair was impressive, he did not have the opportunity to show off his luscious locks to many new people. The star knew everyone in the area already.
"Where I grew up was Terrell, Texas, right outside of Dallas: 12,000 people, a small town where everybody knew everybody," Jamie said.
Besides investing time in hairstyle maintenance, Jamie filled his teenage years with other activities. Chasing girls was one of his primary pastimes.
"It was just real simple [during my teenage years]," Jamie recalled.
"It was about having a crush on a girl, walking her from the football stadium, holding hands. You go park, and the cops bang on the door, 'What y'all doing?' "
