(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jane Lynch thinks it would have been harder for her to come out if she looked like Julia Roberts.

The actress is openly gay and married her girlfriend Dr. Lara Embry in an intimate ceremony in Massachusetts in June. Jane, who shot to fame playing cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in hit US musical show Glee, came out as a lesbian several years ago.

While she admits she was far more closeted when she was younger, Jane says she was never scared her sexuality would hurt her career because comedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres was openly gay and so successful.

Jane appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday to discuss coming out in Hollywood, and thanks Ellen for being so honest about her own sexuality. She said she found it comparatively easy to admit she was gay, but does concede it would have been harder if she was a romantic comedy star and leading lady like Julia.

"I was more closeted in my life when I was younger," Jane told Elle. "It made it so much easier for me when you [came out]. I think it would have been harder for me if I was a Julia Roberts type."

Janes comments led Ellen to quip: "So you're saying Julia Roberts is gay?"

"That's what I'm saying," Lynch joked.
