Leonardo DiCaprio buys tortoise

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Leonardo DiCaprio has bought a ten-year-old tortoise.

The Hollywood star is believed to have purchased the unusual pet last weekend after attending the North American Reptile Breeders Conference and Trade Show in Anaheim, California.

Sources have told website TMZ Leonardo was especially drawn to the Sulcata tortoise, which he pre-ordered from a Californian pet shop specialising in obscure reptiles called Prehistoric Pets.

It is thought Leonardos new African tortoise cost him $400, and he is reported to have asked for the largest one available which weighed 38lbs. According to experts, the Sulcata can usually grow to 200lbs. and often lives to the age of 80.

The talented actor is enjoying huge success at the moment, and received critical acclaim for his role in this summers action blockbuster Inception, about a group of people who can control the dreams of others.

The star went to the reptile conference with his Inception co-star Lukas Haas, who is also believed to have an interest in pre-historic creatures. Leonardo was spied looking relaxed and jubilant at the event, gushing about how amazing all the creatures were. (C) Cover Media
