(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jason Derlo has hinted he'll pen a song for new girlfriend Jordin Sparks.

The 22-year-old's representative recently confirmed he is dating the American Idol winner.

In a new interview, Jason has opened up about his love life and what attracts him to women.

He describes himself as a "sexual person" who loves spoiling his partner.

"I'm attracted to polite women, but like bad girls too," he told Us Weekly. "When I'm in a relationship, I write songs for and sing to the person I'm with."

Jason added he dated one girl throughout school and thought they would get married, although it wasn't to be.

The singer discussed other areas of his life too, explaining he wasn't the most popular guy at school. Even as a youngster he knew he wanted a career in music and so began working to make that happen.

"I kept to myself in school and wasn't interested in going to homecoming, prom, or attending most school social functions. People may have thought I was obsessed with myself, but really, I was obsessed with honing my craft," he said.

The star went on to describe most celebrities as "jerks", before revealing some things about his childhood.

Jason is proud that his mother and father are still together as it gave him a stable upbringing. That said, there were some things about his youth that he didn't like.

"I had a grapefruit tree in my backyard growing up so grapefruit was always an ingredient for every meal. I no longer like grapefruit," he laughed.

The singer added he's "not into" drugs, but does like the odd alcoholic beverage at times.

He doesn't need much sleep, but does have trouble rousing himself in the mornings.

"I sleep about four hours per night and I cannot wake myself up. Someone has to wake me up by either banging on my door or physically shaking me," he explained. (C) Cover Media
