Jason Priestley won't return to 90210

19th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jason Priestley has no plans to reprise his role as Brandon Walsh in the new 90210 show, insisting the character is "the past".

The former heartthrob played Brandon in the hit show Beverly Hills, 90210 for eight years during the 1990s. Unlike his show's co-stars like Tori Spelling and Shannon Doherty however, he has no interest in appearing in the new version of the hit series.

"It's the past. I'm not 15 anymore! But this show is totally different from the original," he said. "I couldn't find any good reason for me to go back to the programme. I didn't want to play Brandon Walsh again, to jump in a time machine, come back ten years ago and be back in his skin! I spent ten years trying to turn the Brandon Walsh page!"

While Jason isn't interested in appearing in the new series, he did direct an episode.

Since 90210 ended Jason has starred in many television shows, including time travel series Tru Calling and My Name is Earl. He is currently starring in comedy Call Me Fitz.

The actor plays a car salesman in the show, but he has laughed off any comparisons between his new character and his role in 90210.

"Oh no, no, no, the two don't have anything whatsoever to do with each other! I don't think they could even exist in the same time or on the same planet! I am much more closer to Fitz than Brandon Walsh. Brandon used to be the guy I used to beat up at school," he remarked. (C) Cover Media
