Jennie Garth happy at 40

20th April 2012

Jennie Garth has gained a "sense of certainty" since she turned 40.

The actress feels good about hitting the mile stone. She celebrated her birthday on April 3.

"[I gained] a sense of certainty... an inner strength," she told OK! magazine.

She was a little scared about getting older at first. However, the reality star is now embracing her middle age.

"What a great time in a woman's life," she said.

"I wasn't sure what was going to happen or what I was going to feel about it. Even on the day I turned 40, I wasn't sure, but now having turned the corner, it's really empowering. Being 40 is really awesome."

The 90210 star is learning who she is and is sure that whatever she discovers will be good.

Jennie stepped out last night to launch her new reality series Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country. It shows her life on her seven-acre farm in the central California countryside, following her marriage split from actor Peter Facinelli. The two are in the process of getting divorced.

Jennie's friends have been helping her through the hard time. The star's assistant has been keeping her upbeat.

"She has given me the gift of laughter during this time which has been big. She has brought a lot of levity into our home. And the girls and I really look forward to that," she said.

Her friend and 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty has also been a great support. Shannen also stepped out at the party last night where she said she was happy to be there for Jennie.

"She knows I'm here so she obviously knows she can call me up and talk to me about anything," she said. "I think you do things like coming here today and showing your love and being supportive of her show and watching her show. You know it's important for women to support other women, it's incredibly important. I have a lot of respect for her and a lot of love for her. So I'm totally excited about seeing her show, I can't wait."
