Jhansi Ki Rani: Taking Inspiration From Hollywood

19th January 2011

January 19, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Bollywood films have often taken inspiration from Hollywood when it comes to action sequences or presenting a romantic sequence. Now, Indian television is also being influenced by the same thing. Fiction shows have done that much before and now historical shows have also started drawing inspiration from Bollywood as well as Hollywood films.

Recently, Zee TVs popular historical show Jhansi Ki Rani has shown a sequence where Rani Laxmi Bai starts imagining the dead king everywhere she goes. The king Gangadhar died after being injured in a fight with Ali Bahadur. This left the queen in deep misery.

On condition of anonymity, an actor from the show said that the current track of Jhansi Ki Rani is based on 2007 Hollywood flick P.S I Love You. In fact, actor Sameer Dharmadhikari, who plays Gangadhar, was called back to shot this sequence. His character died in the first week of December. Now, when he is required to shot this sequence, the actor co-operated fully and gave these few minutes shots. It was very important to have Sameer for the particular sequence because Rani hallucinates about the king everywhere. She is in dire need of her husbands support at this point of time when enemies are constantly plotting against her and Jhansi.

Well, we hope this helps to the popularity of the show.
