Johnny Depp has reportedly bought a Los Angeles mansion so he can settle in the US.

The actor is believed to have left France amidst rumours of a split from his long-term partner Vanessa Paradis.

According to sources it is unknown whether his family will move with him.

"Johnny owns a few properties but he's investing a lot of time and money into his new Hollywood home in a bid to settle there," an insider told British newspaper The Sun. "Whether that's as a single man or with his family is not clear yet."

Reports of a split from French star Vanessa have been circulating for some time now and both have been attending premieres and awards ceremonies solo.

Vanessa recently dismissed rumours of a break-up but the couple are said to be experiencing serious difficulties.

The source added that Johnny wants to focus on a music career.

Before hitting the big time in the movie industry, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was a musician and recently joined Rolling Stone Keith Richards for an impromptu performance at a premiere after-party.

"What is obvious is how much time he's going to dedicate to music," the source said.
