Johnny Depp keeps film crew warm

18th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Johnny Depp spent 40,000 on jackets for cold crewmembers working on the latest Pirates movie.

The Hollywood actor is currently shooting scenes for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England, an area known for its chilly weather.

Johnny and his colleagues had been shivering so much lately that the 47-year-old decided to purchase some snug coats to boost team spirit and keep everyone on the set cosy. Instead of sending the bill to producers, generous Johnny was happy to pay for the waterproof hiking jackets himself, which cost 80 each.

Johnny paid out of his own pocket for all 500 of us to have a nice warm waterproof. It's a great morale boost and another example of why he is one of the nicest people in Hollywood," gushed one crewmember to British newspaper The Sun.

The handsome actor has reprised his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth movie in the Pirates franchise which is set for release next year.

It will follow Johnny's character Jack as he embarks on a quest to find the fountain of youth, and is eagerly awaited by fans of the franchise. Penlope Cruz, Gemma Ward, Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush all have roles in the film too. (C) Cover Media
