Jolie and Pitt make Somali donation

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $340,000 to a Somali aid group.

The couple are supporting the country in the midst of the worst famine there in 60 years.

Statistics estimate that the famine and drought have already killed 29,000 children under five in Somalia.

The money will be used to help children who have been left homeless and are in need of health care.

In her role as an ambassador for the United Nations, Angelina has met with many refugees who have escaped from the country.

The Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid has thanked the Jolie-Pitt Foundation for their generous donation.

The Hollywood couple are well known for their charity work and support of developing countries.

Angelina has been a Goodwill Ambassador for over ten years and has used her public profile to highlight humanitarian causes.

After her long service for the United Nations the actress is preparing for a more involved role.

Angelina is set to become a Special Representative and will work with governments of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran on the refugee issue.

British newspaper The Daily Mail reports that the pair have donated around $8 million to charities according to 2006 tax records. (C) Cover Media
