Jon Hamm: Mad Men makes people talk funny'

6th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jon Hamm thinks Mad Men has made people talk in "funny" accents.

The American star portrays misogynistic advertising executive Don Draper in hit US drama series Mad Men, with his co-stars including Elisabeth, January Jones and Christina Hendricks.

The television show is based in the 60s and has won legions of fans the world over, many of whom argue over their favourite characters. The fashion featured in the programme has also been a big hit, and Jon has even noticed people trying to sound like the stars of the show.

"It's made people talk funny. The show has made people change their method of speech. It's amazing," he said. "It's been a great experience. It's also like, people feel close enough to the era to have an affinity for it and it's not super old-timey."

Jon admits he had no idea the series would so as well as it has. The 40-year-old star is just glad to have the chance to work with so many great actors.

"I wish I had that sort of ability [to know it would be a success], I just really liked the pilot, it was wonderful and really well written," he told a UK TV show. "There's no way to predict it would turn into this sensation it has, though I'm certainly glad it has." (C) Cover Media
