Jon Hamm thrilled with nasty character

6th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Movies - Jon Hamm was delighted to show his unpleasant side in new comedy Bridesmaids.

The Mad Men star plays Ted, the slimy love interest of Kristen Wiig's character Annie. The movie revolves around Annie's attempts to plan the wedding of one of her closest friends. Dubbed the female version of The Hangover, the comedy was a smash hit at the US box office, earning over $100 million.

"An unrepentant douchebag is a great way to put it," Jon said of his character. "But loveable sort of. Kristen Wiig wrote a wonderful script. The play is very funny and she asked me to play the worst person in the world, so I said, Yes, of course.'"

Bridesmaids has been a hit with critics as well as cinema audiences. And Jon hopes it receives the same approval ahead of its release in the UK.

"Kristen and Annie Mumolo wrote a really sharp, smart, funny script and so many people have said it's the female this or that, a chick flick, but it's truly an amazing film," he added. "It's just funny. It was great to be a part of it, I'm super thrilled for the success it's had in the States and I hope it continues over here." (C) Cover Media
