Jason Isaacs: Manager staged intervention

6th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Movies - Jason Isaacs' agent warned him he was going to become a "joke" if he continued to turn down film offers.

The British actor was deluged with TV series work after finishing the Harry Potter film series. However, he was less than impressed and promptly decided against taking up any of the requests.

An intervention was staged by his agent, who felt he wouldn't get a better chance to cement his fame in Hollywood. Jason had no idea however, and thought it was just a standard lunch with his agent and manager.

"For some reason when I was available to do pilots again because Harry Potter came to an end, there was a kind of run on me and I got offered tons of them," he told telegraph.co.uk.

"I thought [the meeting] was going to be that nauseating thing where they sit around and tell you how great you are. It turned out to be an intervention. They said if you continue to turn down these offers you'll become a joke. My American agent said, You're passing yourself out of a career.'"

Jason has tried to explain why he rejected the work offers. He only wants to appear in things he really believes in and which appeal to him on a deep level.

"Perhaps I didn't want to be the guy that's crime fighting every week, the guy who wears blue suits and sunglasses," he mused. "I aspire to more than that in my working life. I want to tell stories in an interesting way, so I said no to all of them. I can't pretend that it wasn't an ego boost to be desired in that way."

Jason will star in mind bending TV police drama Awake later this year. (C) Cover Media
