Julia Roberts: My kids rarely watch TV

13th March 2012

Julia Roberts says her family are more "book people" and rarely watch television or films.

The 44-year-old actress has starred in countless movies but says that her three children; twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, seven, and Henry, four, will not get to see her in action until they are much older.

Julia stars in upcoming Snow White movie, Mirror Mirror, but says that they will not get to watch it.

"I think they are [too young] considering the part I play," Julia told reporters at a press conference about her part as the evil Queen.

"We have a pretty rigid viewing feeling in our house. We'll find our right time that will be happy and joyous for us to share all that together, but it probably isn't in two weeks."

The Pretty Woman star says she and her brood love nothing more than snuggling up and reading rather than watching TV.

"Those nice, cosy, very short hours before bed, we really just spend together as a family talking and sharing the day and reading books," she revealed.

"And really, before you know it, it's time for bed. Part of it is there's just not time for that. We would prefer something different in that time.

"We're more book people in our house [and like to read] stories and poetry and talking, sharing ideas."

But Julia, who has been married to director Daniel Moder for nearly 10 years, doesn't mind them watching the box on the odd occasion.

"They do get to watch some things," she shared. "But for us, we just feel there's a real time and a place for it."
