Julianne Moore emailed co-star with film offer

26th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Julianne Moore was so desperate to act opposite Annette Bening in her latest film she approached the actress personally.

The red-haired beauty recently starred in The Kids Are All Right, about a lesbian couple who have conceived two children by artificial insemination. The film follows what happens when the kids biological father comes into his offsprings lives.

The movies director, Lisa Cholodenko, took the unusual step of asking Julianne who she wanted to perform on screen with, and recommended Annette as an ideal option.

Julianne describes being instantly taken with the idea, and even though the pair had never met the star took to her emails to try her hardest to canvas the 52-year-old.

"She [Lisa] very generously said, 'Let's talk about who should play opposite you.' And she said, 'What do you think of Annette Bening?' Julianne told TheWrap.com. "I said, 'I think that's a great idea. I don't know her, but let me email her.' Because it's so much faster. As great as our agents are, if you wait for an offer for an independent film to go through, it takes a long time to go through the channels. But if you get an email from an actor that you know even casually, I'll read something right away.

To Juliannes surprise, Annette was equally motivated to be a part of the unusual movie and showed her enthusiasm by responded instantly to the email request.

Julianne, 49, who plays the character of Jules in the film, achieved her desired result by being kind and gracious in her internet letter.

"I wrote her a nice email saying how much Lisa and I wanted her to do it, and she responded right away and then she was in," Julianne said.

The Kids Are All Right also stars Mark Ruffalo as sperm-donor-father Paul, with Annette playing physician Nic. (C) Cover Media
