(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Julianne Moore believes her movie The Kids Are Alright shows how far society has developed.

The film focuses on two women who have been in a relationship for many years. They both used the same sperm donor to have one child each and as the kids grow up they decide to track down their biological father. Julianne is thrilled by the positive public response to the themes explored in this film and is glad people are now more accepting of different family set ups.

I think the film shows how far we have come culturally and politically, she told British television show Daybreak. I mean, people always ask the question about whether or not films influence popular culture, but I think, more than that, they reflect popular culture. A film like this can exist because there are gay couples all over the world raising families, so it doesnt feel strange to us. We really have come a very long way in a short time, I think.

People have been going to see it and saying, This is just like my family. It reminds me of my parents, my children, this is what its like to have teenagers.

Julianne stars alongside Annette Bening in the movie, while Mark Ruffalo plays the sperm donor. The actress believes the film is thought provoking in several different ways, as it makes people consider same sex relationships and also what it takes to be a good parent.

Once the kids track down the sperm donor, he begins to spend time with the family and realises what he has missed out on by not raising children.

It makes you think about what makes a family is it biology or is it parenting and time? Julianne explained. I think thats what this movie says, its about the time you put in and raising children and being with them. (C) Cover Media
