Julianne Moore victim of theft

4th October 2012

Julianne Moore has reportedly been the victim of jewellery theft.

The award-winning actress had more than $127,000 worth of jewels stolen from her apartment in the West Village area of New York City, according to police sources.

The ten pieces, seven of which are from Cartier, were allegedly taken from her home between early June and late August while construction work was being done.

Among the missing items is a $33,000 Cartier platinum diamond tennis bracelet and four Cartier watches.

The theft was apparently reported by the actress' assistant at the beginning of October. It has been claimed that Julianne had kept the jewellery in an unsecure spot inside her five-story brownstone building.

No arrests have been made but police are reportedly questioning workers hired to do interior renovations inside the luxury property.

"It's sad to hear something like this happened to one of your neighbours," a long-term resident in Julianne's block told the New York Daily News. "She's a very good neighbour. That's how I see her."
