Julien MacDonald: I want to design royal wedding dress

27th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Kate Middleton should wear an intricately ornate yet simple wedding gown, says Julien MacDonald.

The 28-year-old beauty is engaged to Britains Prince William and the pair will marry next year. Since the ceremony is set to take place at Westminster Abbey in London, Julien insists Kate must wear a gown fit for the lavish occasion. With a host of high-profile names from around the world attending the nuptials and billions expected to tune in to watch the event, the British designer believes the dress should suit her personality and make a fashion statement.

Kates dress would have to befit her beauty and classic taste, the place where the ceremony would take place as well as the worldwide audience, Julien told Grazia magazine. I see her in a beautiful, intricately ornate yet simple and romantic dress in a shade of white. I would love to design it.

Kate has emerged as a style icon with her slender figure and elegant dress sense, so designers are clamouring to design her wedding gown. The brunette is expected to choose a designer from her native country, with the current favourite London-based Phillipa Lepley, who is celebrated for her chic robes. (C) Cover Media
