Justin Bieber thinks girls can be "tough" to handle sometimes.

The Canadian superstar has been in a relationship with Selena Gomez for over a year. Justin is modest about his credentials as a boyfriend, but says that he follows a few rules when it comes to treating the opposite sex with respect.

"I don't know if I'm even the best boyfriend, but I can give a few suggestions," he explained in an interview with MTV News.

"I think being honest and patient, because girls can be tough sometimes, so you just got to be patient. That's two. Forgive, and have fun, because it's about having fun.

"Last one? Be faithful."

Justin - who is currently promoting his first single Boyfriend from his upcoming album - recently spoke of his dating philosophies.

The 18-year-old revealed he is committed to making Selena feel special.

"I'm just trying to make [Selena] happy, that's all," he shared in an interview with Seventeen magazine. "I think it's important to make all women feel like they're princesses, because every girl is a princess. I'm serious."
