(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgrd have confirmed their split.

The pair have been an item for almost two years, but decided to end their relationship a little while ago, according to sources.

Reports suggest that the break-up was amicable.

"It was very mutual," a source told US magazine. "And it happened a while ago."

Meanwhile, the former couple seem to be embracing single life. Kate, 28, was spotted giving her former flame, Orlando Bloom who is now married to Miranda Kerr a hug earlier this month, while Alexander, 34, has been enjoying his new-found bachelor lifestyle.

During a Comic-Con bash in San Diego recently, he reportedly flirted with a brunette party-goer and ended up leaving the event with her.

"He's single and he is loving the attention!" the source added.

The former couple were notoriously shy about their romance - refusing to confirm their relationship status throughout.

Kate has previously gushed about the True Blood actor however, insisting that she holds him in very high regard.

"That's a minefield, man! I'm not stepping into that. I've learned too well from being on that road," she previously explained when asked about her relationship status.

"We are very good friends, He's a wonderful, wonderful man. I adore him."

The pair, who met in 2009, are co-starring in the remake of the '70s thriller Straw Dogs, which is due for release later this year. (C) Cover Media
