(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kate Hudson is sure shes expecting a girl because the pendulum test told her so.

The Hollywood star is expecting her first child with Muse rocker Matt Bellamy later this year, and already has seven-year-old son Ryder with her ex-husband Chris Robinson. Medical professionals are yet to tell Kate the sex of her baby, but shes adamant shes having a girl. The star has completed a pendulum reader which has confirmed her suspicion, and she couldnt be happier.

OK, so heres the pendulum test. You take a piece of your hair and one of your rings and you string it through and then what you do is you hold it over your stomach, she explained. If it swings in a circle its a girl and a boy goes back and forth. With Ryder it was back and forth.

Kate added shell be happy whether she has a boy or a girl as she knows her son is desperate for a baby brother to play with.

Kates new movie is called Something Borrowed and she plays Darcy, whose best friend Rachel portrayed by Ginnifer Goodwin falls ill and then realises shes in love with Darcys fiance.

Kate loved shooting the movie, not least because she could see a lot of similarities between herself and her character. Darcy liked to have a good time, shes a total lush and loves to drink and have a great time and Ive had my moments of loving to go out and bring my friends together, she laughed to ET.

The film also stars John Krasinski, who is married to Emily Blunt. Seeing Kate bloom during pregnancy has made John start to consider what it would be like to have a family, so he and Emily have decided to test the waters.

[We got a puppy.] Its exactly the same thing. Getting a puppy is exactly the same thing as having a baby, he laughed.
