(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kate Hudson has given birth to a boy.

The actress and her fianc Matt Bellamy welcomed their son into the world on Saturday night in Los Angeles.

At the moment no further details have been released about the new arrival, although Kate's spokesperson has confirmed the tot is a "healthy baby boy".

The news may have come as a shock to Kate, as earlier this year she admitted she thought her unborn child might be a girl. She revealed she'd done the pendulum test, where a ring is suspended over a pregnant tummy, so suspected she was having a girl.

The new arrival is Kate's second baby. She already has seven-year-old son Ryder with her ex-husband Chris Robinson.

It's Matt's first child, with the couple getting engaged earlier this year. Both were thrilled at the prospect of becoming parents, with 32-year-old Kate admitted her second pregnancy was worlds away from her first.

"This is a totally different pregnancy, completely," she laughed. "It couldn't be more opposite...With Ryder, I didn't even have a nursery. I didn't really have a house until I was seven months pregnant." (C) Cover Media
