(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katie Holmes is venturing out more with daughter Suri Cruise now that she has reached a divorce settlement with estranged husband Tom Cruise.

Clearly enjoying her new found independence, the 33-year-old enjoyed a day out with Suri and mother Kathy at Chelsea Piers in New York City on Wednesday.

And then the actress enjoyed some quality one-on-one time with her little with a trip to Central Park Zoo.

"Katie was smiling and laughing with her little daughter," an eyewitness told Us Weekly. "They were so cute!"

Suri was apparently captivated with the penguins.

"She was standing on the ledge with her face pressed to the glass," the source said. "When a penguin swam up, Suri screamed playfully, and she and Katie laughed."

Katie blindsided the Mission Impossible star when she filed for divorce two weeks ago while he was filming scenes for his movie Oblivion in Iceland. They hammered out an agreement very quickly but the details will remain confidential. (C) Cover Media
