Katy Perry's father says the singer is "doing well" following her split from Russell Brand.

Pastor Keith Hudson holds no resentment against his former son in law. In fact he is still in touch with the 36-year-old comedian who filed for divorce in late December after 14 months of marriage.

"[Katy is] doing well," he told Us Weekly. "There are no hard feelings towards Russell I just received a text from him the other day in fact.

"He is a wonderful and smart guy."

Keith has added his 27-year-old daughter's marriage was put under increasing strain because the pair spent too much time apart. He believes Katy's work took its toll on her relationship with Russell.

"Her career got really busy and she did not get to see that much of Russell it was just one of those things," he said.

Keith was also quizzed on claims that Katy is dating male model Baptiste Giabiconi.

The Fireworks singer and the model were reportedly seen getting cosy at a Paris Fashion Week party. But her father said he knows nothing about her alleged fling.

"I don't know anything about this male model guy," he said. "She is healthy and happy now!"
