(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katy Perry has opened up about when she wants to start a family.

The 26-year-old singer says she wants to have children with husband Russell Brand but not for a long time.

Speaking to InStyle for their October issue, Katy was resolute in her answer when asked if she was ready to become a mother.

"Not yet," the Firework star said. "I think if you're married, it's often in your future."

"I think in the future the very far future when I have children, I'll have a more open approach, setting boundaries and showing them what their decisions and choices will breed."

The couple will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary in October and Katy says Russell's native England is her second home.

But she says that although she comes across as a bubbly character she said that she does have a fiery side which has helped her in her private and public life.

"I'm not going to sit and be steamrolled," she shared. "I'm going to stand up against things that are unjust."

"I am full of unicorns and Care Bears 99 percent of the time, but don't open Pandora's Box of that one percent because it's there." (C) Cover Media
