Keira Knightley linked to Karenina movie

19th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Keira Knightley has been linked to a movie adaptation of Anna Karenina.

Tom Stoppard is writing the screenplay for a movie adaptation of 19th-century Russian novelist Leo Tolstoys iconic love story and the film is being directed by Joe Wright.

Joe and Keira worked together on hit films such as Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, so the talented actress is thought to be top of the list of female movie stars to play the lead, reports British newspaper The Daily Mail.

The novel tells the tale of a married woman who becomes excluded from society after indulging in a passionate liaison with a member of the aristocracy. Toms adaptation is said to have been commissioned by London-based studio Working Title.

However, no deals have yet been confirmed, and according to Tim Bevan, who runs Working Title with Eric Fellner, nothing will be finalised until Christmas.

Were developing a number of projects with Joe, and Anna Karenina is one of them, Tim told The Daily Mail.

Im not saying Ive made up my mind, but theres something about Anna Karenina, Tom Stoppard and Joe Wright that sounds right. (C) Cover Media
