Isha Koppikar, Ishaa Koppikar, Isha Narang, Eesha Koppikar and Eesha Koppikhar Narang; just like her many spellings, Eesha is a person with many talents. Right from modelling to being a black-belt in Taekwondo, Eesha does it all.
Born in Mumbai on 19th September, 1976, Eesha Koppikhar's first taste with the glamour world was when she did a photoshop during her Ruia college days for the Late Indian photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha. This shoot gave her an opportunity, an opening in the world of modelling. She was soon seen in many ads like L'Oreal, Rexona, Camay, Tips & Toes and Coca-Cola. In 1995, she contested for the 1995 Miss India contest and took away the Miss Talent Crown. She is indeed talented as, apart from modelling and acting, she has earned a black belt in Taekwondo.
Her next step was movies of course. Her extensive modelling appearances and her obvious talent led her to bag many movies. Her first film was the Tamil movie 'Kaadhal Kavithai' in 1998. This film won her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. She then started doing Telugu and Kannada films along with the Tamil ones. Her first Bollywood appearance was alongside Karisma Kapoor in 'Fiza', in the year 2000. Her next film was 'Rahul' which actually made her visible in Bollywood. Her item song "Khallas" from the movie 'Company' gave her the name "Khallas Girl". Another item number which made her famous was the hit number "Ishq Samundar" from 'Kaante'. She went on to do many films after this, the most controversial being "Girlfriend" in 2004, based on a lesbian love triangle. Although Eesha Koppikhar was appreciated for her bold script choice, the movie faced much protest.
Apart from acting and doing item numbers in movies, Eesha Koppikhar did many stage shows. She also did two music videos 'Patli Kamar' and 'Bhor'. She was one of the celebrity judges in the dance competition Nach Baliye 3. In the Miss Universe 2008 pageant , she was among one of the judges. In 2009, Eesha Koppikhar presented the Colors wrestling show 100% De Dhana Dhan.
Apart from films, she still does modelling for Anita Dongre and Pria Kataria Puri. She is currently the Indian face for the Italian Fashion company Police Watches and Jewellery. Eesha Koppikhar is also the spokesperson for PETA and received the 10th Anniversary Humanitarian Award in December 2009.
