Kiefer Sutherland to star in internet series

13th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kiefer Sutherland is set to star as a hitman in a new series that will air exclusively on the internet.

The 44-year-old star will be forever linked with ground-breaking US television series 24 where he played Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer. With the final series of the show already filmed, Kiefer has confirmed details of his next project.

It came about in such a different way. I know so little about the internet, but thats what a lot of friends do for work. Most of that stuff being produced for the internet is comedy, very much like Jackass kind of material, which is great but didnt appeal to me, he told Inside TV.

Despite his lack of knowledge regarding the internet, Kiefer managed to rack his brain for a viable formula, coming up with an interesting proposition. The star will appear in The Confession in which he plays a hitman who has a series of in depth discussions with a priest regarding his victims.

A drama in 5-minute episodes! It was one of those things like a puzzle over the course of the lunch. It cant be that complicated to figure out a story in 5 minutes, right? I couldnt and it frustrated the c**p out of me. So I went home that night, still thinking about it, and it stayed with me for three days. I was falling asleep when I literally got this idea of a confessional, he added.

Although pleased with the finished product, Kiefer admits he still harbours plans to appear on primetime television again. He still misses his time on 24 and would jump at the chance of being involved in a show with the same success.

We have a couple ideas we are working on that we are very excited about. 24 was a lot of work, it certainly had its ups and downs. But for so many reasons, it was one of the great experiences of my life. I miss the daily grind of it, which I was surprised about because thats the one thing you complain about all the time. Be careful what you ask for, he enthused. (C) Cover Media
