(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kim Kardashian says her new single will be released in three weeks.

The 30-year-old socialite is best known for her starring role in reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which follow the antics of her and her family. However, Kim has decided to pursue a new avenue and is recording music for her debut album.

The star premiered the first single Turn It Up, produced by R&B singer The-Dream, at a Las Vegas club in the New Year.

Referring to her time in the studio, Kim thanked The-Dream for making her feel comfortable enough to perform in an industry saturated with talented artists, and hopes her fans like the finished article.

"[It's coming out] in about three weeks. I'm so excited, she told MTV, before adding, You know it was something that I was really uncomfortable and nervous about, and [The-Dream] really just wanted me to step outside of my box and try something I've never done before. So I was really honest. I'm like, 'You're not gonna get Beyonc here, you're not gonna get Celine Dion,' and he really pulled something out of me... I was just so nervous."

With the profits from the single being donated to a charity, Kim admits she found the whole process quite enjoyable. She urges critics to go easy on her as shes not taking herself that seriously.

I'm proud of myself that I tried something. It's all in fun. We just had a good time and the proceeds are going to a cancer organisation [because we both] lost a parent to cancer. So it's just fun," she added. (C) Cover Media
