Kim Kardashian planned her own marriage proposal, it has been claimed.

The reality TV star is in the process of divorcing basketball player Kris Humphries, with their marriage breaking down after just 72 days.

Fans of Kim's reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians saw Kris propose to her on the show. He got down on one knee and wrote out will you marry me' in rose petals. However, it's been claimed Kim actually suggested the best way for him to pop the question.

"Kim told Kris how, where and when to propose, it was absolutely no surprise to her whatsoever," a source told RadarOnline.com.

"First of all, Kris proposed in the middle of the day, and he had to do that because it would create better lighting to capture the moment. Kim looked so surprised but she knew it was happening. She was in full hair and make-up, as she always is on the show. Kris wanted it to be very intimate and romantic, but all of his ideas were shot down by production officials and Kim."

Kris reportedly wanted to ask Kim in Minnesota where he is from, but she wasn't keen on the plan. He had also considered a romantic beach side proposal, which was apparently also ruled out.

"Kim told him the paparazzi would ruin the special moment if it were to take place in a public setting," the insider added.
