Kishoreda's biopic with Ranbir hits a roadblock

20th May 2013

After delivering the blockbuster 'Barfi', the movie team – director Anurag Basu and actor Ranbir Kapoor – came together for another ambitious project, and this time the subject was Kishore Kumar's biopic which would see Ranbir in Kishoreda's shoes.

Besides delay in the shoot schedule after its announcement, there hasn't been any news regarding the development of the film. The media was speculating that the movie shoot delay was due to Ranbir's lack of availability for the project. But looks like it's not the actor, but Madhubala's family which has added a new twist to the equation.

Not many know that Kishore Kumar was married four times, his first marriage was with the Bengali singer and actress Ruma Ghosh, followed by his wedding to actress Madhubala, then Yogeeta Bali, and lastly Leena Chandavarkar. While there has not been much news of any hassle from Ruma, Yogeeta or Leena's family, it is Madhubala's sister Madhur Bhushan, who could potentially end up stalling the project.

Madhur expressed her outrage on the project by stating that she could potentially drag the movie team to court if there is a wrong portrayal of her late sister Madhubala and father. Adding that she would not let the movie release if it simply presents the facts in a typical Bollywood over-dramatic fashion and taints her late sister's image in any way.

She further shared that the movie can show Madhubala as a great actor and it can also show the fact that she had an affair with Dilip Kumar, but over-extending Kishore and Madhubala's relationship and their extra-marital affairs would simply not be acceptable to her.

Commenting on the fact that she has not yet been approached by the movie team, Madhur shared that she plans to be proactive, and will soon be expressing her concerns with Anurag and Ranbir in the form of a letter. She would defend Madhubala's pride and respect, as she owes it to her late sister.

With Kishore Kumar's biopic, looks like we have already started to hear the music tunes, guess just not the pleasant ones so far. Hope the movie team is able to get the required clearance from the family members soon, as fans would love to see the legendary Kishore Kumar's real-life story portrayed by Ranbir, onscreen.
