Lauren Conrad says that her family and friends keep her feet on the ground while she pursues a career in the limelight.

The Hills and Laguna Beach alum admits that she is no longer in contact with her former reality show cast mates because they don't "have anything in common anymore."

But the 26-year-old tells the May issue of Glamour that she treasures the fact that she is still a normal girl.

"The best way to stay grounded is to surround myself with friends and family who knew me way back when," Lauren said.

"There's nothing like cleaning my mom's dishes or taking out the trash to remind me that I'm no different than anyone else."

Although Lauren shows off her body in the magazine, she says that she has shied away from revealing her physique because of an unfortunate photograph a while ago.

"On the vacation in Cabo, I wore a bathing suit on the beach for the first time in years. Usually I'm just petrified," she shared. "A couple of years ago someone zoomed in on my cellulite and it was so mean. I took it really personally. I haven't worn a bathing suit in L.A. in years because of that."
