Lindsay Lohan called Heath Ledger the "love of [her] life" after discovering he was dead.
The Hollywood actor passed away from an accidental prescription drug overdose in 2008.
Lindsay is known to have been friends with the star, with her mother Dina even claiming they were in a secret relationship at the time of his passing.
Star magazine has now obtained a copy of Lindsay's diary, including an extract she wrote on January 22 2008.
"Today Heath died," she apparently wrote. "I'm in love with him He was the love of my life. He taught me so much, and he was everything I've ever wanted and more.
"I want to hear him laugh and hold me. I crave his touch and care."
It's thought Lindsay had been making arrangements to visit Heath in New York City and was planning to arrive just days after he died.
Her diary reveals how devastated she was by her loss. She allegedly couldn't stop crying after being told of his death.
"When a person dies the world stops. I'm numb," she wrote.
In 2008, Lindsay's father Michael Lohan made public a number of telephone conversations he'd secretly recorded. His daughter was going through a difficult time, with Michael claiming she had addiction issues and needed help. He stated he was playing the tapes to the world in order to help the star.
In one, Dina mentioned her daughter's supposed relationship with Heath.
"And she was dating Heath when he died. I don't know if you know that, but I know 'cause I would drop her off and they were friends very, very close, OK?" Dina is apparently heard saying.
