(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Liv Tyler lost her dream when she separated from her husband Royston Langdon.

The Hollywood star split from British musician Royston in 2008 after five years of marriage. The couple - who became engaged in 2001 - had son Milo together in December 2004.

The 33-year-old actress admits it has been hard to accept that her family ideal has shattered, but at the same time she also found it quite liberating.

It's been interesting, the way things have unfolded. I'm accepting what happens in life, and how it affects you, and how things don't always go as you expected them to, she told Bust magazine. That loss of the dream because you spend your whole childhood planning how you're going to do things it's actually very painful, but quite liberating at the same time, when you have to let go of that ideal and see yourself in an imperfect light.

The beautiful brunette was forced to take time off from her career following the painful separation. Liv had a two year hiatus before returning to work on two films - indie flick Super and drama The Ledge.

I took a little time off before Super and The Ledge, she said. I just had a rough couple of years, having Milo and then getting divorced and trying to rebuild my life again.

Livs priority after the break-up with Royston was son Milo. She says they have both had to come to terms with the split. The mother-of-one couldnt return to work until she was safe in the knowledge that Milo had accepted the situation. Milo and I have been in such transition I've been rebuilding and trying to be patient. And I've just put all of my focus on that, she said. Because I can't go to work and be happy unless he's happy and feels secure.

Liv - who recently moved back to New York after living in Los Angeles for a few years - has remained single since her marriage breakup. In June 2010, she stated she was "far too sensitive" for casual dates, explaining: "I fall in love once in a blue moon." (C) Cover Media
