Madonna annoys film fans

24th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Madonna was booed by fans at a premiere for her new movie last night.

The star received a less than warm reception as she arrived on the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival in Leicester Square.

Madonna was there to promote W.E., her latest directorial effort.

The waiting crowd became angry when she only stopped to talk to a handful of fans.

However, Madonna admitted she was feeling nervous about how the film would be received in the UK.

"It's slightly nerve-wracking because it's about a British king, it's predominantly filmed in Britain, it's a British production, most of my actors are English and I know the British can be tough critics. But I hope they like it," she said. "I'm more nervous than on the first night of a tour. I'm newer at this."

W.E. follows the romance between American divorce Wallis Simpson and Britain's Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne for his lover.

James D'Arcy, who plays the king, revealed Madonna was extremely organised. He says the star knew exactly how she wanted each scene to look.

"As a director Madonna is about as prepared a person I've ever worked with," he is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. "Reams and reams of research she'd done. She gave me so many books and every single page was underlined, and if it wasn't underlined it was highlighted, and if it wasn't highlighted there was a post-it note on it." (C) Cover Media
