(Cover) - EN Star Style - Madonna has had to close her Hard Candy gym three days after it opened.

The 52-year-old pop star is famed for her toned body, so launching her own series of fitness centres across the globe seemed like the perfect initiative.

Madonna inaugurated the exclusive sports centre a few days ago in the luxurious Bosques de las Lomas area of Mexico City.

However, local officials have now apparently told the pop star she must close the gym as a result of a lack of permits.

AFP reported that Demetrio Sodi, head of the Miguel Hidalgo borough of Mexico City, had revealed the Hard Candy gym still requires permits for land use and for its parking space.

Demetrio is thrilled about the singing superstars venture into the world of fitness, and is pleased he chose to bring the series to his city. Nevertheless, he has to ensure safety is a priority, so the gym will remain shut until the sufficient checks have been carried out.

"I think it's very good for the city, very good for the country that Madonna chose Mexico City for a gym, but as borough head I have the authority to check, for example... that there won't be an accidents, that there are emergency exits, that's what we have to check," he explained.

The gorgeous singers gym series is named after her hugely successful 2008 album. It is expected ten more locations will open across the globe, in countries as widespread as Russia, Brazil and Argentina. (C) Cover Media
