Madrasapattinam to speak in Telugu

26th August 2011

The Arya starrer ‘Madrasapattinam’, which rocked Kollywood last year, is being dubbed in Telugu as ‘1947 Love Story’. The music of the film, composed by A R Rahman's nephew G V Prakash Kumar, was launched in Hyderabad recently.

‘Madrasapattinam’, which raised many an eyebrow, thanks to its theme, begins with an elderly English woman Amy Wilkinson, almost at her deathbed in London, wants to come down to Chennai in search of a young man, Ilam Parithi (Arya), whom she last saw on 15th August, 1947, to return a Thali necklace (the sacred thread tied around the neck of the bride by her groom) of his mother, which he gave her as a sign of stating that she belongs to India and nobody can separate them.

It won many awards besides rave reviews from the media. This prompted director Vijay to try his hands at a different theme once again, with his next film, ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ (‘Nanna’ in Telugu).
