Bollywood filmmakers are heavily banking on the brand of their franchise films, and they continue to make installments in the name of sequels regardless of the connect with the original.

Films like 'Murder', 'Dhoom' and 'Golmaal' have had sequels, but apart from the brand and the team behind it, there's seldom any connect with the prior films in the series. And the latest to join the marquee is 'Aashiqui 2' which despite being called the sequel to the cult classic love story 'Aashiqui' of 1990 has no connect with the original.

Film's producer Mahesh Bhatt too confessed that one couldn't repeat the success of the original. He added that one cannot make a movie with the pure intention of repeating the success of any movie, so he calls 'Aashiqui 2' as another movie altogether.

Bhatt shared that 'Aashiqui 2' has a fresh cast, a whole new look, a whole new content and some rocking music. The movie also ushers in the glorious golden period of cinema rekindling the feel of the '70s and '80s which celebrates middle class values.

Starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, the film is slated to release on April 26.
