Manirathnam is being extra cautious to ensure that nothing goes wrong for his upcoming blockbuster, 'Ponniyin Selvan', as was the case with his previous movie, 'Raavanan'. Manirathnam will soon make official announcements about his upcoming 'Ponniyin Selvan'. It was earlier rumoured that Manirathnam was planning to take on his old friend, Ilayaraja, as he felt that only this music maestro would deliver the perfect background score and songs for this period film. However, he has signed on AR Rahman instead, on the insistence of the producers who felt it was necessary to bring in an international brand of music to this film. P.C. Sriram will work on cinematography while National award winner, Sreekar Prasad, is set to work on the editing.
