Mariah Carey: Pregnancy made me nest

20th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mariah Carey says she felt like "Suzy Homemaker" during her pregnancy.

The singer gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April. She introduces the babies to the public for the first time in a US TV interview, which will air tomorrow.

Mariah admits that she turned into the ideal housewife while she was waiting for her babies to enter the world.

"When I was pregnant, I did floral arrangements," the 41-year-old told Barbara Walters for ABC's 20/20 show. "I cooked, I ended up in our house like Suzy Homemaker, but it kind of turned out great."

Mariah went on to reveal she had cravings for soft drinks and candied apples while she was pregnant. "I just wanted thirst quenching things," she explained.

The music star was also quizzed on allegations she drank beer after the twins who they refer to as Roc and Roe - were born.

The rumour led to California Child Protective Services investigating the singer. However, Mariah insist the reports didn't "make any sense" since the children were being cared for in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit.

"The babies were in the most protective environment because it's the NICU," she explained.

Mariah went on to reveal a nurse had brought her alcohol to help improve her lactation. "I didn't even drink the beer," she added.

Mariah's husband Nick Cannon also appears in the interview, which took place in the couple's New York City home.

When asked if they are planning to expand their family, Nick revealed that Mariah doesn't want any more kids but he is "open to the idea". (C) Cover Media
