6th March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Marion Cotillard has revealed she wanted to be Charlie Chaplin as a youngster.

The 35-year-old French actress is known for her outstanding performances in movies such as Public Enemies, Nine, Inception and La Vie en Rose for which she won a best actress Oscar for her portrayal of late songstress dith Piaf.

Marion is often praised for bringing old-school Hollywood glamour to the big screen via her ladylike appearance and magical screen presence, but the star admits that as a youngster she was more inspired by male stars.

She was especially fond of British comic actors Sir Charlie Chaplin and Peter Sellers both of whom are now deceased.

I admired Greta Garbo but I didnt want to be her. I wanted to be Charlie Chaplin. And I wanted to be Peter Sellers, she told Empire.

Marion was raised by her two actor parents in a creative French household, and thinks her upbringing had a major impact on her life today. She went to see plenty of movies as a small child, but didnt watch TV until she was older.

We didnt have TV before I was eight and I will always be grateful to my parents for that, because we developed our imaginations by creating our own stories, she added. (C) Cover Media
