(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matthew McConaughey's solo dance routine in Magic Mike roused the female extras so much they "ran at the stage".

The actor stars alongside Channing Tatum in the new movie - which is loosely based on Channing's time as a sexy dancer.

Matthew plays Dallas in the Steven Soderbergh-directed comedy - a former stripper who owns the club Xquisite.

"We could not get the women to sit down in the front row," co-star Channing laughed. "They just ran at the stage."

Matthew didn't need much convincing to accept the role. The 42-year-old star says filmmaker Steven sold him the script hands down.

"He pitched me the story, and ten minutes into it, I was on my knees in my house laughing," he recalled to MTV News. "And I said, 'Tell me, any words of advice?' And he said, 'This guy, Dallas, he's connected to the UFOs in space.' And then I said, 'Anything else?' And he said, 'You really can't go wrong.' And I said, 'I'm in.'"

Channing insists the male cast were very open to the nudity. The Hollywood star says no-one was too worried about exposing their flesh.

"The first day of rehearsals, I looked at the guys and we went through our stuff, and I was like, 'All right. It's time to get naked, boys.' And it was hilarious that none of them really balked," he smiled. (C) Cover Media
